This is an outstanding and unique book on epilepsy surgery outcomes and longterm prognosis for refractory epilepsy, analyzing both drug treatment and surgical treatment. The psychological, neurological, and psychiatric outcomes prior to and following surgery are compared. The following surgery types analyzed are: focal corical transection, callosotomy, hemispherectomy, disconnection via stereotaxy, and lobal resections. A discussion of extratemporal and temporal surgery is looked at in both adult and childhood. The introduction and postoperative treatments with medications is statistically analyzed. Frontal lobe, temporal, parietal, occipital surgery from MIS and lobectomy are some of the pathologies looked at.
I recommend this book to epileptologists, neurologists, neurosurgeons, and research professionals with an interest in Epilepsy Research. It is a welcome addition to any medical library.
